Chia Fresca for the Omega-3 and Fiber WIN!
Chia Fresca
Your new favorite digestion and elimination hack!
a quick and refreshing way to support regular elimination and nourish your body each day
Say hello to chia fresca—a zesty, energizing drink that’s been a staple in Latin America for centuries and is my daily wellness GO-TO.
It’s light, citrusy, and just the right amount of funky thanks to the magic of chia seeds. With only three ingredients, this drink is a super simple way to boost your fiber, omega-3s, and electrolytes in one delicious glass.
Its vacation season, and we’re likely busy not paying attention to our diets on the daily. But if you don’t DO ANYTHING ELSE, DO THIS. Every morning. You will thank me later ;)
What makes this little drink a nutritional powerhouse?
Chia seeds are tiny but mighty—they’re packed with plant-based omega-3 fats that support brain and heart health, and loaded with soluble fiber that supports digestion, daily elimination AND this kicks off your day with keeping blood sugar steady.
Once soaked, the chia provide a clean, gel-like texture that also helps keep you full. I love this for breakfast with a protein shake. The coconut water adds natural sweetness and is brimming with electrolytes like potassium and magnesium. Add a splash of fresh lime for a zingy dose of vitamin C and flavor, and you’ve got a drink that’s as good for you as it tastes.
Zesty Chia Fresca Recipe
1 cup unsweetened coconut water (or more if you require)
2–3 tablespoons chia seeds (your poop response will let you know if 2 or 3 tbsp is better)
Juice of ½ lime (or other citrus- make it your own)
Stir it all together, let the chia seeds soak for 5-6 minutes (or shake it up in a jar), and ENJOY. If you are averse to coconut water, try it with just filtered water instead, or mix with your favorite electrolyte packet + water.
A Chia fresca is your go-to sip for regulating elimination, maintaining good hydration all while getting a boost of Omega-3 fatty acids.
Try it for 3-4 days and let me know what you think!
